Thuy Trang died on September 3, 2001, following a car accident in San Fransisco. She was 27 years old.
The car accident
Trang was to be bridesmaid to former actress/model Angela Rockwood-Nguyen later that year, and they were returning late at night after visiting the planned maid of honor when the accident happened. The driver was another of Angela’s bridesmaids.
The car accident occurred on Interstate 5 between San Fransisco and Los Angeles. The car turned violently across the road before hitting the roadside rock face and flipping several times before hitting the safety rail and plunging over the bank.

Trang died in the crash before arriving at the hospital, due to the internal injuries she had sustained.
Angela survived the accident despite being thrown out of the vehicle through a window before its final impact. But because of the disaster, she now has quadriplegia.
The driver is believed not to have suffered any lasting injuries.
Funeral
Many of Trang’s castmates from MMPR (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) attended her funeral. Jason David Frank (who plays Tommy Oliver) could not attend the funeral due to his older brother Erik’s death. Castmate and close friend Amy Jo Johnson (who plays Kimberly Hart) spoke at her funeral.
