James Drury, Star of ‘The Virginian,’ Dies at 85
James Drury, known for the long-running Western television series "The Virginian," passed away on April 6, 2020, at 85.
His portrayal of the stern but fair foreman on The Virginian, which aired from 1962 to 1971, made him a beloved figure in the genre of Westerns.
Personal life
Drury married three times. First with Cristall Othones, with whom he fathered two sons. His second wife was Phyllis Jacqueline Mitchel. He married his third wife, Carl Ann Head Drury, in 1979.
The actor had an estimated net worth of $1.5 million.
Cause of death
Drury’s death was confirmed on his Facebook page by his assistant Karen Lindsey who mentioned that he died of natural causes. She wrote:
“It is with immense sadness that I let you all know that James Drury, our beloved Virginian and dear friend passed away this morning of natural causes. He will be missed so much. It is beyond words.”
