In a statement, Ash’s mother Diann payed tribute to her daughter: “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, and friend Erica Chantal Ash (1977-2024). After a long and courageous battle with cancer, she transitioned peacefully surrounded by her loved ones. Erica was an amazing woman and talented entertainer who touched countless lives with her sharp wit, humor, and genuine zest for life. Her memory will live eternally in our hearts.”
Tributes also poured in from colleagues and fans. Robin Thede, creator of A Black Lady Sketch Show, described Ash as a “force of nature” and a “light.” BET (Black Entertainment Television) honored her with a heartfelt Instagram post, emphasizing her wit and talent.
Erica Ash’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation or a breast cancer foundation of choice.
