Erica Ash, MADtv star, dead at 46

Erica Ash, the talented actress and comedian best known for her roles on “MADtv” and “Survivor’s Remorse,” has passed away at 46.

Ash’s family confirmed her death on Monday, attributing it to a long battle with cancer. “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, and friend Erica Chantal Ash (1977-2024),” her mother, Diann Ash, shared.

Born in Florida and a graduate of Emory University, Erica Ash made significant contributions to the entertainment industry with her sharp wit and vibrant personality. She captivated audiences on “MADtv,” “The Big Gay Sketch Show,” and “Real Husbands of Hollywood.” Ash also shone in roles in “A Black Lady Sketch Show,” “In Contempt,” and the film “Uncle Drew.”

Ash passed away on July 29, 2024, peacefully surrounded by loved ones. Tributes from colleagues and fans poured in. Robin Thede, creator of “A Black Lady Sketch Show,” described Ash as a “force of nature” and a “light.” BET (Black Entertainment Television) honored her with a heartfelt Instagram post, emphasizing her wit and talent.

Erica Ash’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation or a breast cancer foundation of choice.
