He married three times. His sister, Mary Doyle, was also an actor, though mostly on stage.

David Doyle, the gravelly voiced character actor who played Bosley, the avuncular assistant to the three female detectives on the television series ”Charlie’s Angels,” died on Wednesday. He was 67. The cause was a heart attack.
