He has also hosted ‘Truth or Consequences’ for 18 years. Prior to beginning his career in television, Barker used to work for radio. He was the host of his own radio show called ‘The Bob Barker Show.’

In January 1945, Bob Barker got married to Dorothy Jo Gideon, who was his high school girlfriend. They were married for 36 years until Dorothy’s death in 1981. They did not have any children, nor was Barker remarried again. In 1989, he was in a relationship with Dain Parkinson; it ended in 1991.
